Capstone Ideas

My capstone project is going to be a multiple video series targeted at female youth. The title of my piece is called     ‘CHOICES: The Long Road Home’
I had the opportunity to interview some women at the Indiana Women’s Prison and I would like to put together multiple videos highlight the poor decisions that these girls made and the consequences that they now face. The idea is to show these videos to young girls and youth in general to hopefully help prevent them from making bad choices of their own.
 
-my 3 ideas-
 
Idea 1 ‘keeping it simple’
3 separate videos highlighting different aspects of the consequences that one faces after they make poor decisions. I would place these videos on a DVD with a nice menu setup. I would make it a dual format DVD so if you placed it into your computer you could open it as a file and there will be lots of documents and contact information of professionals that can help if someone is having issues. These DVD could be distributed to schools and other organizations.
 
Idea 2 ‘social networking’
I would create awareness by building a Facebook page dedicated to this idea. I would then release one video at a time… maybe a week between each video release; and each week I would provide lots of additional information on the each topic, helpful links and even get some professionals in the field to get on for perhaps a question and answer session.
 
Idea 3 ‘multi-media release’
Create the 3 videos and release one on DVD, another on Youtube and maybe have a live streaming of the last one. After they are all released for a bit I could make all three available on a webpage.

    I say your second idea is best. If young girls is your traget audience, social media is, in my opinion, one of the best way to reach them.

    I really like the social networking idea.

    If you have all of the videos up at one time, people may not read all of the details about them. If you release them one at a time with more information, I think people would actually sit there and read them. They wouldn't be distracted about the other videos on the page, because they would just have one to look at for the time being.

    One thing that would be necessary would be populating the page before releasing videos. You would need to make sure you get a large fan base first. Also, do a few status updates a week. If you do not have a good social media presence, the page will be "dead".

    Maybe do some research on successful social media techniques? Maybe you could get involved with twitter too?

    Just a thought. :)

    I think you could maybe do a combination of your ideas. I like your second idea. Maybe make it more interactive by making it so that so many people have to like the page before you release the first video. Then you have to get so many Twitter mentions/promotions before you release the second. Then..come up with a third for the last video.
    Then make them available on DVD for organizations and schools or anybody else.

    I love your first idea. I think the fact that you would be using your capstone as a chance to help younger women is really thoughtful of you. Not only will you be benefiting from creating an insightful capstone, but you will also be benefiting our youth by helping them to understand how important the choices they make in their lives really are.

    I like your ideas, but I think the third one could use some tweaking. The idea of releasing them in different media is interesting, but with the gap between releases and everything, it could get a little confusing and difficult for people who are interested to follow it. I like the idea, but maybe a little tweaking could make it better.

    I like the social media idea as well. These days just the skill of building an online presence is a huge deal and almost a capstone by itself. I think fostering those skills with something as beneficial as this film would be a great combination.

    The idea of different media releases is particularly interesting, I think I like the idea OF it, but actual execution I don't know how beneficial it would be. The social following seems to be a common trend that is happening nowadays, but why not with the availability of it. I had a similar idea of trying to build a following, and keep people watching when you release the different videos.
